Strongly recommended!

If you have the opportunity to check out this book, please do! It was featured on today's "Oprah" show, and offers great healthy alternatives to what may be part of an unhealthy, routine diet.

Especially note calories from drinks each day, portion size, and sugar intake. I've got the adult version of this book, and it's wonderful. It even rates restaurants!

I welcome your comments on this subject. Please don't think that I am telling anyone how or what to eat. I'm simply offering an informative reference, should you want to use it. :)

From Noelle's mother, Lara:

Ms. Stamatis,

We actually own this book. Noelle saw it on the bookshelf at Barnes & Noble
several months ago. She's begged me to buy it for her but I refused to as I
thought it was another diet gimmick and something that would collect dust on
our bookshelf. Noelle would browse through the book whenever we go to
Barnes and would point out foods that she ordered at Denny's and other
restaurants and would say "Mom, I ate the worst food I can possibly eat at
Denny's." I told Noelle that the key is "moderation." Once in a while it's
okay to eat that kind of food as long as you eat a balanced diet. Anyway,
her dad took her to Barnes and finally bought the book last Christmas. She
came home and said "Mom, I have a surprise for you!" She ended up buying it
for me. It turned out to be a great book and good to have as a guide. It
provides meal alternatives, and yes, it rates cereals, candies, restaurant
foods from good to bad, eat this not that! It also includes fun recipes.
Noelle's favorite is the "brain booster" shake. I noticed that Noelle has
become super conscious with her diet and what she orders at restaurants even
at Krispy Kreme and Baskin Robbins! She'll say stuff like "I'll order this
drink because it has less sugar than that."

I also recommend this book. It now has a permanent spot on our kitchen
counter!
